Agreement

Sage has an agreement with the German Academic Institutions for subscribing consortium members. The current agreement will run between 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2028. The details of the agreement are as follows:

To qualify for the agreement, the corresponding author must be affiliated with an institution participating in the German Academic Institutions consortium agreement and have an accepted article in an eligible journal that enters production between January 01, 2024, and December 31, 2028. 

Publish open access in a subscription journal

As a corresponding author at a participating institution, you can publish open access free of charge in your choice of 900+ subscription journals which offer hybrid open access publishing (Sage Choice). This applies to journals in the  2026 Sage Premier package,  IMechE Journal Collection or the  Royal Society of Medicine Collection. Please see the journal lists below to check which are eligible journals. Charges other than the article processing charge (APC) may still apply; please refer to individual journal submission guidelines.

Authors in subscription journals do not need to take any action to benefit from this offer. Sage will contact all eligible authors informing them of the Open Access agreement with the German Academic Institutions and invite them to Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment to take up the offer as soon as their accepted article has been received into Sage’s Production department.
